The project focused on Water Framework Directive Failures on these three rivers which largely related to phosphate inputs. There are a range of diffuse and point source phosphate inputs into these rivers from both rural and urban sources. We worked with partners to contact farmers who were likely to be having impacts through their land based activities and households who may have impacts through the use of non-mains foul drainage systems.

Undertaken 26 farm visits and associated integrated farm plans. Attended three agricultural events, delivered three agricultural demonstrations (soil decompaction, cross compliance, efficient slurry spreading - 34 farmers attending in total). Completed three farm grants (surface water management x 2, streamside fencing) to a total value of £5230.

Engaged with over 100 of the most vulnerable properties on non-mains drainage to disseminate information on recently introduced General Binding Rules. Contact the local estate agents to help disseminate information on the General Binding Rules. Contacted the caravan/ campsites in this area (8) in this regard. Contacted the relevant Parish Councils where non-mains hotspots occur and poster campaign at riverside hotspots.

14km of river walkover surveys complete, engaging with 14 volunteers. Planted half a hectare of native broadleaf woodland, signposted one project partner and three individuals to potential funding for woodland creation in 2016/17
