Project summary
The River pant in this location has undergone a high degree of physical modification and has limited or no connectivity with the floodplain on either bank. As such the project proposes to reconnect the surrounding meadows, creating a secondary channel and some wet grassland.
To do this it is proposed that a 300mm pipe is installed approximately at a height that will allow regular inundation, especially during high rainfall events and will facilitate the creation of the back channel.
The back channel will then be further enhanced by limited excavation and pool creation to form bays and hold water during periods of drought.
