CONTRIBUTOR RULES FOR THE RESTORE WEBSITE
- ACCEPTANCE OF CONTRIBUTOR RULES
- These rules (Rules) are the Terms of Use for the website and apply to anyone making contributions to the Wiki (www.riverswiki.restorerivers.eu) operated by the RESTORE partnership (RESTORE) which forms part of the Wetlands International website. These Rules apply to all contributors to the Wiki. Any submission of Content by You to the Wiki means that you accept and agree to abide by all the terms and conditions of these Rules. In this Wiki you will be able to contribute, edit, comment, upload case studies and documents or pictures etc.
- There are also definitions of certain words. You can edit the dictionary of river restoration terms but you can not make any direct input into the definitions and must contact a Wiki Moderator if you wish to provide a correction or improvement to the definitions.
- The Rules supplement the general website terms of use for this site.
- MODERATION
- Every contribution submitted to the Wiki (Contribution) will be checked by RESTORE for compliance with the content standards below (Content Standards) by a Wiki Moderator (Moderator).
- RESTORE is under no obligation to you or any other person to oversee, monitor or moderate the Wiki and may stop moderating the Wiki at any time. RESTORE reserves the right to remove, edit or disable access to, any Contribution which it deems to be potentially in breach of the Content Standards. RESTORE expressly excludes liability for any loss or damage arising from the use of the Wiki by any person in contravention of these Rules.

- SUBMISSION OF CONTRIBUTIONS
- When you submit a Contribution, including:
- Details of a river restoration project that you have been involved in or are responsible for (Project), or
- a comment in relation to any project described on the site or some other more general comment in relation to river restoration generally (Comment), you must comply with these Rules.
- You may view the site without registering to log in but if you wish to make a contribution you must register with your details and then log in each time you wish to make a contribution.
- When you submit a Contribution, including:
- CONTENT STANDARDS
- These Content Standards (Content Standards) apply to each part of a Contribution as well as to its whole. The Content Standards must be complied with in spirit as well as to the letter. RESTORE will determine, in its discretion, whether a Contribution breaches the Content Standards.
- A Contribution must:
- be accurate (where it states facts) and is not misleading either on it own or in context,
- be relevant either to a Project or to river, estuary, lake, coastal waters, catchment restoration generally,
- be factual if relating to a Project or be factual or genuinely held opinion if it is a Comment,
- include in whole or in any part only text, photographs, video and other material that has been created by you or your employees unless you know positively that you have permission from whoever created that material (and you must ensure that you have any such permission to use third party materials in writing and you agree to supply copies to us at the time you make the Contribution),
- only identify living individuals if you have their written permission and supply us with a copy when you make the Contribution,
- contain no commercially confidential information,
- not prejudicially affect security of persons or anything or create any risk of vandalism (whether national or local or environmental (e.g. protected species site),
- comply with the law applicable in England and Wales and in any country from which it is posted including compliance with any court order or any other legal binding direction of a competent body and avoidance of any contempt of court or defamatory content in relation to any person or business.
- A Contributions must not do any of the following (Inappropriate Use) whether or not they are unlawful:
- advocate, promote, incite any third party to commit, or assist any unlawful or criminal act.
- be obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory,
- promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age,
- be likely to harass, upset, embarrass, alarm or annoy any other person,
- impersonate any person, or misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person.
- give the impression that the Contribution emanates from RESTORE if this is not the case.
- A contribution must not contain any advertising or promote any services or provide web links to other sites that are commercial, unlawful or include Inappropriate Use.
- COPYRIGHT AND DATABASE RIGHTS
- By submitting a Contribution to the Wiki, you agree to grant RESTORE a non-exclusive licence to use that Contribution.
- Although you (or a third party whose permission you sought) will still own the copyright in your Contribution, you grant to RESTORE (including in respect of any third party material) the right to freely use, edit, alter, reproduce, publish and/or distribute the material contained in your Contribution.
- This licence is free of charge, perpetual and capable of sub-licence.
- RESTORE may exercise all copyright and publicity rights in the material contained in your Contribution in all jurisdictions, to their full extent and for the full period for which any such rights exist in that material.
- Any sub licence by RESTORE of a Contribution when it is published (on the Wiki or otherwise) may grant full and unrestricted non-commercial use rights and commercial rights that are limited to internal use only.
- Please also note that, in accordance with the Content Standards above, you must ensure that your Contribution does not infringe any copyright, database right or trade mark of any other person. By submitting your Contribution to the Wiki, you are warranting that you have the right to grant RESTORE the non-exclusive copyright licence described above.
- If you are not in a position to grant such a licence to RESTORE, please do not submit the Contribution to the Wiki.
- BREACH OF THESE RULES
- When RESTORE considers that a breach of the Content Standards above has occurred, it may at its discretion take such action as it deems appropriate. Failure to comply with these Rules constitutes a material breach of the terms of use on which you are permitted to use the Wiki, and may result in RESTORE taking all or any of the following actions:
- Immediate, temporary or permanent withdrawal of your right to use the Wiki.
- Immediate, temporary or permanent removal of any Contribution or any part(s) thereof already posted on the Wiki.
- Issue of a warning to you.
- Legal proceedings against you for reimbursement of all costs on an indemnity basis (including, but not limited to, reasonable administrative and legal costs) resulting from the breach.
- Further legal action against you.
- Disclosure of such information to law enforcement authorities as RESTORE reasonably feels is necessary or as required by law.
- RESTORE excludes liability for all action it may take in response to breaches of these Rules. The actions described above are not limited, and RESTORE may take any other action it reasonably deems appropriate.
- When RESTORE considers that a breach of the Content Standards above has occurred, it may at its discretion take such action as it deems appropriate. Failure to comply with these Rules constitutes a material breach of the terms of use on which you are permitted to use the Wiki, and may result in RESTORE taking all or any of the following actions:
- COMPLAINTS
- If you wish to complain about any Contribution posted to the Wiki, please e-mail a RESTORE moderator
- RESTORE will then review the Contribution and decide whether it complies with the Content Standards above.
- RESTORE will deal with any Contribution which, in its opinion, violates the Content Standards as described above (see section "Breach of these Rules").
- RESTORE will inform you of the outcome of its review within a reasonable time of receiving your complaint.
- CHANGES TO THESE RULES
- RESTORE may revise these Rules at any time. You are expected to check this page from time to time to take notice of any changes RESTORE may make, as they are legally binding on you.
- JURISDICTION
- These Rules shall be subject to and interpreted in accordance with the law of England and Wales.
