De Keersop onstaat vanuit de Elzenloop en stroomt vervolgens langs Luyksgestel, Bergeijk, Westerhovenen, Dommelen en mondt vervolgens ter hoogte van Westerhoven uit in de Dommel. Het voornaamste doel van de geplande werkzaamheden is de rechtgetrokken beek weer natuurlijker te maken om te zorgen dat de stroomsnelheid toeneemt op bepaalde stukken. Het tweede doel is om de verdroogde natuur rond de Keersop en Beekloop te herstellen. Als laatste gaat het waterschap ook werken aan de integrale Gewenste Grond- en Oppervlak Regime (GGOR) in samenwerking met de landbouw door de waterhuishouding te verbeteren.
