|Project summary=The Apelnäs powerplant was built in 1940. In 1995 a denil fishway was built and adapted for a minimum amount of water 300 L/s. A fish counter was placed at the upper end of the fishway. It was noticed that fish only migrated downstream, not upstream. The reason was that the fish could not find the fishway and there was still too little amount of water. A pool type fishway was decided to build because it was not possible to build a bypass channel because of steep steepness and rock-bedded bottom. The realisation of the new fishway was 2009. After the finish of the pool-type fishway, the water flow was increased from 300 to 600 L/s for two months annually. In addition, the power plant will every September and October be turned off entirely for 10 hours on one day a week. The idea was to have moss growing there, since it is excellent climbing material for eels.
