|Project summary=This project aimed to stabilise a highly erodible bank consisting mainly of colliery shale by using a green, visually appealing method. Rock rolls and live willow bundles (faggots) were placed to protect toes. The upper bank was protected using high performance erosion control mats and native willow cutting. Locally occurring riverside grasses and rushes were planted to revegetate the marginal areas.
